As the school bells ring in September across Cameroon, many families feel the excitement—but also the pressure—of a new academic year. For Pierre Thierry Noah Foundation (PTN Foundation), this season presents a powerful opportunity: a chance to support children’s education, celebrate their progress, and plant seeds of motivation for the journey ahead. That’s exactly how La Rentrée des Héros—Heroes’ Back to School—was born.
Where It All Began
Founded and officially registered in August 2022, PTN Foundation has always been driven by a mission to transform the lives of children through education. So it made perfect sense to launch an event that not only marked the return to school, but also celebrated the effort and achievements of the children we serve.
In rural areas, the start of the school year is often a time of financial strain for parents. Uniforms, books, fees—it all adds up. La Rentrée des Héros was created to relieve some of that burden while also giving children a joyful, empowering experience to look forward to each year.
We kicked things off in Omvan, at the Saint-Cœur de Marie complex. Why this school? [Find out HERE]. The day was filled with energy, fun, and purpose: scholarships were distributed, outstanding students received special recognition, and everyone left with renewed confidence for the year ahead.
From One School to 25+
What started as a single event in a single school has grown into one of our foundation’s most impactful annual initiatives. La Rentrée des Héros has now become our flagship program—one that brings hope, joy, and tangible support to children and families across regions.
This year, with the incredible partnership of Orange Foundation Cameroon, we are taking things to the next level.
We’re heading south to Ebolowa, expanding our reach from one school to 25+ schools—and we’re not stopping there. More heroes, more scholarships, more joy. We’re adding new activities, new opportunities, and aiming for an even greater impact.
Why It Matters
Children in rural communities often lack access to the basic tools and encouragement they need to succeed. La Rentrée des Héros is more than just a back-to-school party—it’s a celebration of resilience, an investment in the future, and a message to every child: You matter. You are a hero. And we believe in you.
What’s Next?
The momentum is just beginning. With the support of our partners, volunteers, and donors, we aim to expand La Rentrée des Héros to even more regions in the coming years. Every event is a step closer to our vision: a world where no child is left behind because of where they were born or how much their parents earn.
